Johannes Oerding became popular with his anthemic German pop and melancholy, optimistic lyrics. Since then, the Münster native has been an integral part of the German-language music scene. With his velvety voice and gentle guitar playing, the singer delights his fans and regularly sells out tours and performances. At the tender age of 17, Oerding secured a contract with a major label. However, it would be another ten years before he released his first album. In the meantime, Johannes Oerding got to know the big stage when he opened for bands such as Simply Red, Ich + Ich, Stefanie Heinzmann and Ina Müller. The singer has not only recorded several duets with the latter, such as "Ich hab dich nicht mehr zu verlier'n", but has also been in a private relationship with the musician for several years.
Oerding's debut album "Erste Wahl" was released in 2009, but his big breakthrough only came two years later with "Boxer", which only just missed the top ten in the German charts.
The following three albums "Für immer ab jetzt" from 2013, "Alles brennt" in 2014 and "Kreise" in 2015 all achieved higher rankings and were also awarded gold and platinum. While songs such as "Engel", "Alles brennt", "Nichts geht mehr " and "An guten Tagen" are about love and life, the tracks on the current album increasingly contain political and critical components: On "Konturen", Johannes Oerding addresses political and social fields, as in songs such as "Anfassen" and "Ungeschminkt".
In 2018, Johannes Oerding accompanied Peter Maffay, for whom he has already written lyrics, as a guest on his MTV Unplugged tour. While Oerding was a guest on "Sing meinen Song - Das Tauschkonzert" for the first time in 2019, he was allowed to take on the role of host himself in 2021. The Hamburg native by choice also sang ARD's official 2020 European Championship song, "Die guten Zeiten", together with Wincent Weiss.
